So now 2017 has come to an end, and we all get asked, “What do you want for 2018?” “What goals are you going to create?” I think I’ve been asked quite a few times about my goals for 2018. Now, I’m a coach I’m in the industry of goal-setting and goal achievement, and this year I’ve decided to take a different approach. I have a lot on. I’m clear about the stuff that I’m working on, and I haven’t been inspired to make goals this year, so I’m doing a softer version suggested by a wonderful colleague and friend of mine, Tatyana Sussex. She brought up the term devotion the other day, and I was moved and inspired by that word. So I thought about what it is that I want to devote myself to, and it came to mind that I want to make 2018 very simple, and I want to be devoted to enhancing the quality of the lives of others and everybody that I come into contact with.

I love the simplicity of that. It’s something I can remember. I don’t have to work hard at it, as it’s easily accessible. So consider—if you’re not moved and inspired by goal-setting or doing resolutions this year—ask yourself, “What would I like to be devoted to?” It can be that simple.

Happy New Year, everybody!
