What’s In Your Future
Transcript
I just wanted to take a quick second to talk to you about the future. The future does not exist. Every thought about the future is a creative act in our minds.
So which of these two do you practice most often?
Do you practice your negative imaginative future? One that might scare you? One that’s full of dangers that you’re trying to avoid?
Or do you have a positive imaginative future? One that is created from visions of things that you would like to have in your life, what would be lovely, what would be nice to experience?
Here’s why it matters when our minds travel into the future. We get to live the feelings that get created from the thoughts that we are having, so if we take ourselves to a scary place, we’re going to create stress, fear, and anxiety within us. But if we take ourselves to something that feels good, then we—now in this current moment—get to experience excitement, joy, freedom. It feels much better!
So…if you’re going to create, which is what thinking about the future is—it’s all fiction, it’s all created in your own mind—make sure that you have a story that is positive, that you enjoy thinking about, and that feels good in the current moment to hold in mind.
So positive imaginative future on any subject: if you don’t have one, it’s probably trying to write one.
Take care,
Steph.
